  Abstract

Advancements in wireless communication technology have led to its extensive adoption across various fields, including Internet-of-things and augmented reality. To support these services, extensive research has been conducted to improve communication performance. Alongside the assurance of such communication performance, security and low probability of detection (LPD) have emerged as critical issues to prevent privacy violations and security threats. In the context of military communications, ensuring LPD is of paramount importance, as the detection of communication activities could result in significant human and material losses. A plethora of studies have been undertaken to ensure LPD, with a significant number of these focusing on the utilization of spread spectrum techniques such as DSSS and CSS. While previous studies have explored the individual performance of each spread spectrum technique or performance comparisons under different parameters, there has been a lack of performance comparisons between spread spectrum techniques under the same parameters. Therefore, in this paper, we present an analysis of the reception performance and detection probability by an energy detector of spread spectrum techniques under identical parameters, as well as the impact of applying spread spectrum techniques.
